1. Who you are dealing with

This store is operated by GROUND INTERNATIONAL HK LIMITED, a company registered in Hong Kong, trading as Pilvarox. In these terms "we", "us" and "our" mean that company, and "you" means the person placing an order or using the site.

2. Using this site

By browsing or ordering you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the site.

You agree not to use the site to do anything unlawful, to attempt to gain access to systems or data that are not yours, or to copy the site content for commercial use without our written permission.

3. Age

You must be at least 18 to order from this site. Everything we sell has a sharpened edge or is a tool for sharpening one. Where the law of your country sets a higher minimum age for buying a bladed article, that age applies instead. We may refuse or cancel an order where we have reason to believe the buyer is under age, and the carrier may require an adult signature on delivery.

4. Products and descriptions

We describe every product as accurately as we can, including steel, hardness, edge angle, blade length, spine thickness and weight. Dimensions and weights are nominal and stated as approximate. The linen micarta is a pressed natural fibre, so colour and weave vary slightly between handles, and it darkens with use. Screen colours vary between devices.

5. Safe use

These are sharp tools and they are shipped sharp. Use them on a wood or plastic board, keep them out of reach of children, store them sheathed or in a block or roll rather than loose in a drawer, and do not attempt to catch a falling knife.

Each product page states what that knife is not suitable for. In particular the Cleaver 175 is a vegetable cleaver and is not for cutting bone, and the Boning 150 is for working around bone, not through it. We are not liable for loss or injury arising from a knife used contrary to the guidance on its product page or on Care & Sharpening.

6. Prices and payment

All prices are in United States dollars and exclude import duty and local tax, which are charged by your own customs authority where they apply.

We may change prices at any time, but a change will never affect an order already placed. Payment is taken when the order is placed.

Prices and availability are shown in good faith. If an obvious pricing error occurs we will contact you before shipping and give you the choice of paying the correct price or cancelling for a full refund.

7. Orders

Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we send the dispatch email, not when you receive the order confirmation. We may decline an order — for example where stock has run out, where payment is refused, where we cannot lawfully ship a bladed article to the destination, or where an order looks fraudulent — and if we do, we refund it in full.

8. Delivery, returns and refunds

Delivery is governed by our shipping policy, and returns and refunds by our refund policy. Both form part of these terms.

9. Warranty

We warrant the blades, handles and fittings against manufacturing defect for two years from delivery. The warranty covers replacement. It does not cover a dull edge, which is normal wear and is what the whetstone is for; damage from use on bone, frozen food, glass, stone or ceramic; corrosion on a knife that was left wet; or damage from dishwasher use, which every product page tells you not to do.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

Subject to that, our total liability in connection with any order is limited to the amount you paid for it. We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

11. Intellectual property

The text, photographs, designs and layout of this site belong to us. You may not reproduce them commercially without our written permission.

12. Privacy

How we handle your personal information is set out in our privacy policy.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version in force is the one published on this page at the time you place your order.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the courts of Hong Kong have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, this does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your own country.
